THE SECTOR THAT THE PANDEMIC CANNOT STOP

Hüseyin Kumru, the founder of BURPRES Metal Sanayi A.Ş and the 10th Group Committee Chairman at BTSO, made statements to the Bursa News Newspaper regarding the sector.

ENTRY TO THE SECTOR

Hüseyin Kumru, who has been one of the leading names in this sector for about 45 years, came to Turkey in 1977 and started to work in the mold industry after spending the first ten years of his youth in Germany. In 1982, its own company BURPRES Metal Sanayi A.Ş. founded. Hüseyin Kumru, who is one of the doyens of the sector and who is also the 10th Group Committee Chairman at BTSO, told Bursa News how they managed the pandemic process on their behalf, with the experience of many economic and social bottlenecks he witnessed so far.

EFFECTS OF THE EPIDEMIC

Kumru, who evaluated the fact that the mold and casting industry was not affected much by the process while the pandemic process inflicted deep wounds in the economy and industry in our country and in the world, said that this situation was directly attributed to the fact that their work did not produce a final product, the demand for which decreased, while the demand of the industrialists is to raise the molds for the health sector products and hospital beds, the demand of which increased too much during the pandemic process He summarized by giving an example that he had difficulties in training. Namely; The experienced businessman, who stated that mold, casting and apparatus makers can reduce the risk by shifting their production focus to different sectors in line with the changing demand, nevertheless, as a result of returning to the domestic market due to export restrictions, and the automotive sector, which constitutes the main production of their sector, serious blows, in the European Union, which is our biggest export item, % of sales in the automotive sector. He also stated that the production for some sectors was interrupted due to reasons such as the decrease of 26.

ACCESS TO RAW MATERIALS

Hüseyin Kumru, who mentioned that this challenging process, which affected the whole world, did not disrupt the production on a sectoral basis, but that the global negativities caused problems in the supply chain, said that they had to turn to imports, the supply cost of which is increasing day by day due to the difficulty of accessing raw materials and the inability to produce some raw materials in Karabük and İskenderun. He evaluated it as causing the sub-industry, mold, casting and apparatus manufacturers to not gain an international competitive advantage.

PATIENCE REQUIRED

Noting that the industrial investments made and the effects of the automobile factory under construction in Bursa should not be expected to reflect on the national industry and development, the Experienced Business Person stated that this is a process and that it will bring very serious benefits once the stages such as the preparation of molds are completed. Underlining that although we are able to provide the standards brought by the producing countries in our country, some mandatory criteria and foreign brand obligations forced the manufacturers to import, and this situation will end, he stated that national products can be used in spare parts, molds and castings with the full operation of the automobile factory. Kumru said that he believes this will create a serious added value in the country’s industry.

EVERY CRISIS CREATES ITS OPPORTUNITY

Together with the technologically sensitive machinery equipment, which was on the basis of the workshop in the years of its establishment; Pointing out that the company, which carries out sheet metal, metal injection, plastic injection, mold design, mold manufacturing and sheet metal press printing, also went through difficult times, the experienced businessman stated that some of the crises benefited the growth of the company.

INCREASED MANUFACTURER IN THE SAME SECTOR

Hüseyin Kumru also said, “We want the factories in the country to increase and production to increase, but in fact, companies doing the same job should not increase at some point. There are many manufacturers in the same industry. Because, let alone earning foreign currency, they cause losses. With the industrial sector exchange rate, labor costs are a very complex business. It will be healthier to allow production to increase in different areas,” he said.

SMALL INDUSTRIAL SITES

Hüseyin Kumru, who is also the Head of Foundry Industrial Estate, stated that they are struggling with many structural problems as an industrial estate. Mentioning that there are many companies that want to develop in the industrial site, Hüseyin Kumru said, “There are 100-meter shops here. Even if they want to grow, they cannot grow because the current prices are high and they are locked. “People are losing their enthusiasm,” he said. He demanded that the authorities pave the way for industrialists and investors who want to grow for solutions that can be made in this regard.

THE SERVICE SHOULD BE SUPPORTED, NOT SUPPORTED

Kumru, who is also the head of the site, built a public toilet and a prayer room suitable for the site. The service that should have been appreciated went to court. President Kumru, who was very surprised by this situation, said, “My aim was to serve our guests and customers from abroad, but we saw a hindrance while waiting for support for our service, this situation upset me very much, we expect an urgent solution from the authorities.”

WE CANNOT FIND QUALIFIED STAFF

Talking about the fact that art schools are not at the old level, Kumru said, “Art schools are a place where people with very high scores should enter, and they should definitely not be entered with low scores.”

Arguing that especially engineers should be graduates of art school and receive engineering education, Hüseyin Kumru said, “I think people who go to normal high school should not be engineers.

Everyone wants to graduate from university, unemployment is high, but we have difficulties in finding qualified personnel, and said, “Tophane Industrial Vocational High School contributed a lot to the sector about 20 years ago, but unfortunately I cannot say the same for this period.”
